Migraine Headaches

Nick has helped with my migraines with treatment that is immediate and does not make me all dopey–took five minutes last time instead of the eight hours I’d spend in the ER! Thanks guys. Keep up the good work–there is a HUGE need and I wish everyone that suffers with depression, PTSD, OCD, neuropathic pain, and migraines knew about this place-They really RESTORE and will CHANGE YOUR LIFE! -Kristine L.

Migraine headaches are recurring headaches characterized by unilateral onset, severe throbbing pain, sensitivity to light and sound, and autonomic disturbances such as dizziness and faintness. The disorder occurs more frequently in women than men and a predisposition to headaches may be inherited.

Migraines cause severe pain and are one of the leading causes of disability in the world. Three million Americans suffer with chronic migraines, affecting their work performance, relationships, mental health, and financial security. Many cases have physical and psychological components, but discovering the cause and treatment requires a holistic approach.

How We Help

Our targeted approach to healing migraine headaches combines ketamine and other nasal, topical, and intravenous medications, lifestyle counseling, and talk therapy into one treatment plan to address your whole system. We isolate the root cause and focus on the most effective ways to treat migraines and related syndromes, often accommodating patients as soon as symptoms begin so that rapid treatment takes away their pain without opioids and urgent care visits. Our office is diagonal from Akron Neurology, and we both enjoy lending our areas of expertise so patients only receive treatments that work.

Ketamine infusion therapy works in a variety of ways to decrease pain. It decreases inflammation, regulates glutamate (an important brain fuel source), and increases synaptogenesis and neuroplasticity. Its NMDA receptor antagonism inhibits cortical spreading depression, decreasing the frequency and intensity of migraine headaches. Ketamine also rebuilds brain connections after concussions, traumatic brain injury, and similar traumas.
